Porcelain Veneers

Veneers, Porcelain Dental Veneers

As you age, it is normal for teeth to get discoloured due to daily wear and tear, consumption of staining foods like wine, tea, coffee, or habits such as smoking. If there is just one crack in your teeth it may not affect your smile that much, but as the chips, cracks, and discolouration add up it can create a significant impact on the attractiveness of your smile.

Some patients actually feel that they are stuck with their dull smiles for life, but that’s not true. With innovative procedures in cosmetic dentistry, you can get back your bright white smile in no time.

At Brunswick Dental Group, we offer our patients several different options to brighten up their smiles. One of the most popular cosmetic dental services that we offer is porcelain veneers. With porcelain veneers you are essentially dialling back time and getting your gorgeous smile back. Or even if you have never had an attractive smile before, veneers can easily hide chips, cracks, stains, and other imperfections and create a great smile for you.

Veneering is a minimally invasive and conservative treatment that corrects a wide range of flaws in your smile without having to remove your healthy dental structure.

What Does The Procedure Entail?

When you have your consultation at Brunswick Dental Clinic, we will assess your individual situation and examine the health of your teeth and gums. Importantly, we will discuss the goals that you wish to achieve, and will investigate what colour shade changes you would like to achieve for a brighter, more attractive smile.

Our dentists will carefully and lightly buff your tooth’s surface to remove some of the enamel, which enables us to get the strongest of bonds to your tooth. The amount of enamel removed depends on the requirements of each individual tooth and the thickness of the veneer. Removing some enamel prevents the tooth from looking oversized, which would occur if the veneer were simply placed on top.

From here our dentists will make an impression mould of your teeth and gum-line. A temporary covering may be made while the lab makes the veneers. On your final visit your veneers are cemented into place.

Who Should Consider Veneers?

Just as any other cosmetic procedure, it is purely a subjective and personal decision whether you should get yourself porcelain veneers or not. If you feel self-conscious about your smile and if a smile makeover can improve your self-esteem and confidence, then it is definitely a worthwhile procedure to consider.

Some of the most common situations where porcelain veneers are appropriate would be the following.

Your teeth are severely stained: Patients whose teeth are stained either due to aging or lifestyle factors may benefit significantly from porcelain veneers. The veneers will instantly hide the discoloration, thus making the smile look brighter. Stain-resistant veneers will give patients very long-lasting results.

Wear and tear: Dental wear and tear caused by grinding of teeth or aging can cause chips and cracks on the enamel. Over a long period of time, these minor flaws can add up and cause the smile to look less attractive.

Crowding of teeth or gaps between them: The gaps between teeth can be concealed effectively by veneers. Also the crowding of teeth can be corrected or hidden using veneers if the problem does not require orthodontic correction.
